Starting August 19, 2026, we’re changing when you’re charged for additional paid seats in your ChatGPT Business workspace. Instead of charges appearing on a later bill, we’ll charge you immediately when a paid seat is added.
When you add the seat, you’ll pay only for the remaining time in your current billing period, using your workspace’s payment method on file; beginning with your next billing cycle, those seats will be included in your regular subscription charges.
You’ll still pay the same amount overall—we’re only changing when you’re charged for additional seats. No action is required, and all other billing and payment terms remain unchanged.
Note: Starting June 24, 2026, Codex seats will no longer be available to new ChatGPT Business plans, or to Business workspaces that never added a Codex seat prior to June 24 2026. Business workspaces that had added a Codex seat prior to June 24, 2026, including pending invites as of June 24 can continue to manage and add usage-based Codex seats.

You can start your Business account with either standard ChatGPT seats, or Codex seats.
After your initial purchase, you will be able to add other seat types.

For standard ChatGPT seats, during checkout you can select monthly billing or an annual discounted plan, along with an initial number of seats. For Codex seats, checkout starts with a credit purchase for usage-based billing instead of a monthly or annual seat plan.
