How to reset your ChatGPT password
Log out of your account, or open a private/incognito browser window.
Go to the ChatGPT home page
Click Log in.
Enter your email address or phone number and click Continue.
Select Forgot password? on the password entry screen.
Follow the instructions in the password reset email you receive.
Add or update your password in Settings
You can add or update a password from ChatGPT settings.
To do this:
Sign in to ChatGPT.
Go to Settings → Account.
Add or update your password.
Once a password is set, you’ll be able to change your email address from the same settings page.
Please note that changing your ChatGPT password updates the password for your entire OpenAI account, so you’ll use the new password anywhere you sign in with that account (including the API Platform).
Didn't receive a password reset confirmation email?
If you don't see the password reset email:
Check your spam or junk folders.
Make sure you're checking the correct email account you used to sign up.
Double-check that there are no typos in the email address you entered.
If you originally signed up with Continue with Google, Continue with Microsoft or Continue with Apple, you will not have a password to reset. In that case:
Please log in using Continue with Google, Continue with Microsoft, or Continue with Apple.
If you need to reset your Google, Microsoft, or Apple password, you’ll need to do so directly through their websites.
