Customer Responsibilities in Safeguarding Financial Data

Updated: 15 hours ago

Security and privacy are central to how we operate at OpenAI. We encourage our users to follow industry standard practices in safeguarding their personal information when using ChatGPT, the API, and other OpenAI services.

Do not use ChatGPT inputs (such as conversations, files, and GPTs) to enter, upload, or share cardholder data as defined by Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS). This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Primary account numbers (PAN)

  • Card validation codes (e.g., CVV, CVC)

  • Personal identification numbers (PINs)

  • Any other information that could be used to complete a payment transaction.

By using ChatGPT, customers acknowledge they are solely responsible for ensuring that cardholder data is not shared within ChatGPT inputs. Payment details should only be submitted through OpenAI’s designated secure payment pages.

For more information about how our services may be used, please consult OpenAI’s Usage Policies and other terms.
