Overview

ChatGPT Business includes ChatGPT, ChatGPT Work, and Codex. The plan offers two types of seats: Standard and Premium, which include usage for ChatGPT features such as thinking models, coding, and agentic features. Premium seats offer more included usage for ChatGPT Work and Codex; individual ChatGPT model allowances are separate. Model and feature availability also depend on your workspace settings.

Model picker

Use the model picker to select the reasoning level for your ChatGPT conversation. The available options can vary by workspace and rollout:

• Instant: Responds quickly using GPT-5.6 Sol.

• Medium: Uses GPT-5.6 Sol with standard reasoning.

• High: Uses GPT-5.6 Sol with extended reasoning.

• Extra High: Uses GPT-5.6 Sol with its highest selectable reasoning effort.

• Pro: Uses GPT-5.6 Sol Pro or GPT-6 Pro as it becomes available. Additional reasoning controls may be available for this option.

Note that Pro is a model option, not another name for a Premium seat.

ChatGPT can also add reasoning automatically while Instant is selected. To manage this behavior, go to Settings > General and adjust Higher intelligence. Automatic reasoning may use your reasoning allowance even while Instant remains selected.

GPT-6 Pro in Chat

GPT-6 Pro, powered by GPT-6 Astra, is available to ChatGPT Business users as access rolls out. Business Standard includes 15 Pro messages per month, shared across GPT-6 Pro and GPT-5.6 Sol Pro. Business Premium includes 50 Pro messages per week, shared across the two models. Switching between them does not increase or reset that shared allowance.

Work and Codex use separate model controls. Available options include GPT-6 Astra and GPT-5.6 Sol, Terra, and Luna, depending on workspace availability. GPT-6 Astra is rolling out gradually, so access may not be available to all eligible users yet. Terra and Luna are not selectable options in ordinary ChatGPT conversations.

Note on unlimited access

Virtually unlimited access applies to Instant chat and remains subject to safeguards against misuse. It does not make reasoning, Pro, ChatGPT Work, Codex, or other tools unlimited. Automatic reasoning may use your reasoning allowance even while Instant remains selected. However, usage must adhere to our Services Agreement, which prohibits, among other things:

• Abusive usage, such as automatically or programmatically extracting data.

• Sharing your account credentials or making your account available to anyone else.

• Reselling access or using ChatGPT to power third-party services.

We have guardrails in place to help prevent misuse and are always working to improve our systems. This may occasionally involve a temporary restriction on your usage. We will inform you when this happens, and if you think this might be a mistake, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our support team. If policy-violating behavior is not found, your access will be restored.

Models and limits

Your included usage depends on your seat type and the experience you use. Premium seats provide a higher included allowance for ChatGPT Work and Codex. This does not mean every ChatGPT model or feature has a higher limit. Included allowances are different from workspace credits purchased for additional usage.

Once GPT-6 Astra is available to your workspace, Standard seats include limited Astra usage within their existing Work and Codex allowance. Premium seats can use their full existing allowance for Astra. Purchasing workspace credits is optional and does not give early access during rollout. After included usage is exhausted, additional Astra usage can use purchased workspace credits if the workspace has credits and its spending controls allow it.

For ChatGPT Work and Codex, usage depends on the model, task size, reasoning effort, and amount of work performed. A longer task can use more of your allowance than a short task, so a fixed number of messages is not a reliable measure of remaining usage.

If you reach an included limit, eligible usage can continue with purchased workspace credits when credits are available and your workspace's spending controls allow it. Otherwise, wait for the applicable allowance to reset or use another available option. Reaching a limit for one experience does not mean every ChatGPT feature is unavailable.

When a change from Premium to Standard takes effect, the Standard limits apply. A scheduled downgrade does not reduce access before its effective date.

Local-message estimates by seat type

The estimates below show allowed local messages per 5-hour window. Actual usage varies by model and task; cloud chats can use more of an allowance than local messages. Premium seats have 5x the included usage of Standard seats, with the benefit of no 5-hour limit so users can maximize uninterrupted session time
